Isarman 2025: Moosburg inspires with inclusion and strong athletes!
The Isarman, which is considered “Southern Bavaria's most beautiful triathlon”, celebrated its 15th anniversary in Moosburg on September 17, 2025. Surrounded by brilliant weather, the event once again attracted numerous athletes. In his speech, the President of RGSV Moosburg, Martin Hofmair, highlighted the great support from the city of Moosburg, BVS Bayern and the airport. “Without them, this event would not have been possible in this form,” said Hofmair.
Mayor Josef Dollinger also commented on the importance of the Isarman. He emphasized that the event was a prime example of inclusion in sport. “People of all ages and with different abilities come together here,” he said proudly. This openness was particularly well received this year, as the event was open to anyone interested.
Strong performances on the track
Sara Hofmair, just 17 years old, prevailed in the women's ranking and won with an impressive time of 1:20:45 hours. She left second place Pia Mau (1:27:09) and Marie Bönisch-Etzkorn (1:31:17) behind her. Among the men, Jonathan Griesinger was the best athlete with a time of 1:17:59, closely followed by Oliver Hein (1:18:10) and Sven Wendlandt (1:20:22).
There was also an exciting relay competition, which the team led by Peter Grassl won in a time of 37:25 minutes. A total of around 125 athletes took part in the Isarman 2025, which Martin Hofmair was pleased about, but regretted the low participation of children and young people.
Outlook for the future
Some innovations are already planned for the coming year in order to attract more young people. Hofmair announced that a later start and shorter waiting times would be aimed for. It also remains to be seen whether para-swimmer Josia Topf will be present as a prominent guest in 2026, even if he will not take part in the competition. Mayor Dollinger indicated that he himself may wish to attend the event if his recovery from foot surgery allows it.
The importance of the Isarman for an inclusive sports landscape is also illustrated by the “Index for Inclusion in and through Sport”. This was developed by the German Disabled Sports Association in collaboration with experts and has the aim of promoting participation in sport and drawing attention to the needs of all athletes. Information about this index is available on the DBS website, which can be accessed here. Such initiatives show how important inclusion in sport is and how it can be actively promoted.
