A team of construction workers recently discovered a nearly 100-year-old time capsule that was brought in when the Friedrich Ebert Bridge was commissioned in 1928. The Merkur reports that this capsule was hidden in the wooden centerpiece of the structure. During the demolition work, workers were able to carefully recover the capsule, having exercised particular caution at this point.
The contents of the time capsule offer exciting insights into the past: five coins from the Weimar Republic period, including both Reichsmark and Reichspfennig coins, were found in the container. The coins, made of silver and copper, have a patina but are in remarkably good condition.
