Burghart back at ESVK: Striker swears loyalty to his hometown club!
Young talent in ice hockey is the key to the future, and things are getting exciting at ESV Kaufbeuren. Yannik Burghart, the 23-year-old striker, is returning to his roots after a year at EHC Freiburg. The move comes at just the right time for Burghart, as he sees the return as a great opportunity to play in his usual surroundings again. At Freiburg he was able to record 14 points scorer in 48 competitive games, which isn't exactly bad for a striker. But last season at his old club was even more impressive. There he scored 27 points in 59 games, which demonstrated his skills as the Allgäu newspaper reported.
Patrick Reimer, sports director of the ESVK, puts it in a nutshell: Burghart's return is not only an emotional decision, but also a sporting one. He sees a lot of potential in the player and is convinced that he can play an important role in the team. “With Burghart’s commitment, our squad is complete for now,” he explains.
Young talent is the trump card
But despite all the joy about the return, ESV Kaufbeuren also attaches great importance to supporting young players. Together with Burghart, 18-year-old Leon van der Linde was also awarded a sponsorship contract for two more seasons. Van der Linde has established himself in defense and has already produced notable performances. In the 2021/2022 season he plays regularly and contributed six assists in 32 games. His contract is also valid until the end of the 2023/2024 season, like that Ice hockey page reported.
Particularly noteworthy is the new regulation of the German Ice Hockey League 2 (DEL2), which has introduced standardized U21 funding contracts since 2019. These contracts aim to optimally develop talented young players like Burghart and van der Linde. 53 U21 players currently have such a contract, which shows how widely accepted this measure is. A report from ICE hockey highlights the positive effects of this initiative. The average playing time of the promoted talents in the DEL2 is now 10:02 minutes per game, which represents valuable experience for the players.
By signing Yannik Burghart and securing the two funding contracts, ESV Kaufbeuren is showing that it is not only focusing on current success, but also on the development of young players. Not only the sports director speaks of a positive development, the young talents themselves are also euphoric. Burghart is looking forward to the challenge and, above all, to developing his game and repaying the club's trust. So ice hockey in Kaufbeuren remains exciting – there’s something coming up!
