Several alcohol-related cases in Kitzingen traffic: cyclist seriously injured!
Last weekend, several cases of drunk driving in the Kitzingen district caused concern. While the police were patrolling closely, several conspicuous incidents occurred that could not only have legal consequences, but also had dramatic consequences for those involved. So reported Radio chime about a particularly serious case.
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, a group of cyclists rode the cycle path from Rödelsee to Wiesenbronn. A cyclist fell into a ditch and sustained serious injuries that required hospitalization. The group had previously come from a wine festival where the person concerned had consumed alcohol. The police have launched an investigation into suspicion of drunk driving.
Drinking and driving – a serious issue
Another sobering example occurred in Kitzingen, where a cyclist who rode in serpentine lines was checked on Saturday evening. During the check, the police found that the driver had a breath alcohol level of over three per thousand. Here too, further travel was prohibited and a blood sample was ordered. He is now facing charges of drunk driving.
But it wasn't just cyclists who were affected. Another road user, who was also checked on Saturday evening, was not only drunk, but also without the required driving license. In this case too, blood samples were taken and investigations were initiated. These incidents make it clear once again that drunk driving not only has legal consequences, but also endangers the lives of those involved.
What the legal situation looks like in Germany is also explained RA Kotz. Driving accidents under the influence of alcohol are considered a criminal offense and can have both civil and criminal consequences. The possible consequences range from fines to driver's license revocation to prison sentences, depending on the type and severity of the incident.
Alcohol limits and their consequences
Particularly relevant information regarding alcohol limits can be found at ADAC. There is a blood alcohol limit of 0.5 for drivers in Germany, with strict measures already in place at 0.3 per mille, where there can be consequences if you are relatively unfit to drive. From 1.1 per mille, the ability to drive is absolutely restricted, which can lead to strict legal consequences if checked, including mandatory participation in a medical-psychological examination (MPU) from 1.6 per mille.
In this sense, we can only hope that those responsible and, above all, road users in Kitzingen and the surrounding area are aware of this serious issue and rethink their decisions. Ultimately, it's not just about fines and driving license revocation, but also about the safety of all road users.
