The “Sport Primary School” award was launched six years ago to support primary schools in the areas of sport, exercise and healthy nutrition. From the new school year, the awarded schools can expect a third sports lesson in the first grade. The Ministry of Culture provides the necessary financial resources for this. Each of the schools also receives a one-off 1,000 euros to purchase sports and play equipment in order to further expand the offering.
Sport and health in focus
The goal of this initiative is clear: children should not only develop joy in exercise, but also grow up healthier. A total of 200 primary schools in Bavaria were recognized for the 2025/2026 school year, which is a record number for one year.
