On Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident on the B286 in the Kitzingen district. Loud In Franconia A 22-year-old driver made a serious turning mistake at the A3 junction, which had dramatic consequences.
The young driver overlooked an oncoming vehicle while turning and a collision occurred. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance. The two cars were completely destroyed after the accident and had to be towed away. The material damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros. The Rüdenhausen fire department and the highway maintenance department were on site to help with the accident investigation and the removal of the spilled operating materials.
Drastic increase in traffic accidents
Unfortunately, such accidents are not uncommon in the region. A similar incident occurred on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in the Schweinfurt district, where a 23-year-old Audi driver died at the scene of the accident. This tragic accident, described by Northern Bavaria, was also caused by a turning error - in this case by a 77-year-old driver of a Renault who overlooked an oncoming Audi while turning.
The Audi was occupied by five people and was thrown into an adjacent field by the impact, where it overturned. A total of seven people were injured in this terrible accident, including three children between the ages of three and thirteen.
The emergency services were deployed with around 60 firefighters, eight ambulances, a rescue helicopter and several emergency doctors. The federal highway was completely closed during the measures to ensure that the accident could be recorded and rescue work carried out.
An appeal to road users
Both incidents clearly show how important attention and caution are in road traffic. It is therefore crucial that drivers always exercise caution and follow traffic regulations. The dangers of turning traffic are real and, as the cases mentioned above demonstrate, can have serious consequences. Every road user has the right to a safe journey and it is our responsibility to ensure this.
