Burggruber shooters crown Dirk Kreul as the new king!
There was recently a reason to celebrate in Burggrub: Dirk Kreul became the new king of the Burggrube riflemen. In an exciting shooting competition, Kreul prevailed against 22 competitors with an impressive score of 61.1. This was the first time in his shooting career that he received the coveted royal chain, which has now recognized him as the highest representative of the shooting brotherhood for a year. As np-coburg.de reports, the shooting club was presented with great joy by the numerous members and guests present.
The first knight Hans-Willy Geiger followed with a divisor of 89.0, while Jana Frey takes the position of second knight with a divisor of 107.2. This traditional event is an integral part of shooting in Germany and attracts numerous participants.
Traditional royal shooting
The royal shooting, as it was also carried out by the Burggruber Schützen, has a long tradition in Germany. The king is often determined by shooting a wooden bird that is attached to a high pole. The more current form of shooting usually takes place horizontally at targets over distances of 20 to 30 meters. Many clubs now use small caliber and air pressure weapons for this purpose, with the winners being honored with a special royal piece of jewelry, the king's chain. This is expanded to include another link in the form of a medal or coin, which draws special attention to the achievement. The custom of “shooting the bird” has become established to this day as an expression for exceptional achievements, as the German Rifle Association highlights on its website dsb.de.
The shooting festival, which traditionally represents a mixture of celebrations and social gatherings in the Rhineland, combines historical customs such as flag waving with modern club life. In addition to the royal shooting, shooting and shooting as well as other shooting rituals are also part of the extensive shooting customs.
A highlight in club life
Especially in Burggrub, the royal shooting is not just seen as a competition, but as a social event that brings members and interested parties together. The new King Kreul will now artistically design the wooden targets in the shooting houses and continue the tradition of the shooting club. Shooting customs are alive in many German regions, and the event in Burggrub helps to strengthen local traditions and promote a sense of community.
The shooting club is looking forward to an exciting and eventful time with its new king and the two knights, in which the focus will be on social gatherings and exchanges. This is another beautiful chapter in the history of the Burggruber Schützen and an event that is firmly anchored in community life.
