Regional enjoyment meets international flair: P-Seminar in Kronach!

What is happening in the Kronach region? An exciting project is being launched at the Kaspar-Zeuß-Gymnasium in Kronach that focuses on regional products. A P seminar will take place under the direction of Andrea Wittmann, the aim of which is to give local products an international flair. As the NP Coburg reports, the highlight of the seminar will be a three-course menu at the renowned Schwarzbach Gourmet in Pressig. The proceeds from this event are not only intended for the well-being of the region, but are intended to particularly benefit disadvantaged children.

The seminar ends with a special project: a healthy breakfast for the children of the Johannisthal kindergarten. Ingredients that come from the region are used - the bread is baked from local organic grain from the Oesterlein bakery and the healthy pancakes are made with eggs from local chickens.

A hearty project for children

In collaboration with Beate Renner from Tiefenkleer Eis, a delicious mango ice cream is also prepared. This special mango concentrate comes from the Preda Foundation in the Philippines, which actively supports disadvantaged children and finances its social programs through fair trade in mangoes. The FairTrade mango ice cream will then be available for sale on July 30th at the Kaspar-Zeuß-Gymnasium school festival. This not only promotes the children's taste buds, but also their future.

But what does it actually mean to buy locally? According to the information from BZFE The level of self-sufficiency with agricultural products in Germany is rather poor. Fruits and vegetables often come from abroad, due to insufficient domestic production and seasonal differences. There is a lack of effective processing and distribution structures for regional food. In addition, in many cases there are hardly any partnerships between regional producers and retailers. Many businesses rely on self-marketing, be it through farm shops or weekly markets.

A trend towards regionality

Despite these challenges, there are encouraging developments. Initiatives and business models that focus on the regionality of food are becoming increasingly important. Like on the platform Future of shopping As you can read, consumers are increasingly interested in fresh, regional products, which are often a more sustainable choice. Having a good hand when shopping can not only benefit your personal health, but also the local economy and agriculture.

The success of the P-Seminar in Kronach shows us once again that awareness of regional products is growing and that such projects can make a decisive contribution to strengthening the community. It will be exciting to see how these developments will continue to unfold!
