Kaltenberg Knights Tournament 2025: Spectacular shows and great prizes!
The Kaltenberg knights' tournament, the largest of its kind in the world, will once again attract thousands of medieval fans to Kaltenberg from July 11th to 27th, 2025. An estimated 120,000 visitors will come to Kaltenberg Castle, about 50 km west of Munich, to immerse themselves in the world of knightly fights, jugglers and craftsmanship. The tournament was founded in 1979 by Luitpold Prince of Bavaria, a great-grandson of King Ludwig III, and has since become a highlight in the event calendar.
On Friday, July 12, 2025, the event starts with a rousing night of jugglers. Visitors can enter the site from 5 p.m. and continue until 2 a.m. - the program promises an entertaining evening. Of course, various knight tournaments are also planned: the evening tournaments are scheduled for Saturday, followed by the day tournaments on Sunday.

Attractions and entertainment
The program promises an unforgettable experience: throughout the event, visitors can experience impressive knight fights, music and juggling on five stages. Of course, craftsmanship and market activity are not neglected either, with historic stalls offering products from artisans. Among the special attractions are the historical wood turner Markus Völlmer with his magical wooden theater and the artisan Sy Geis, who sells hand-dyed fabrics and jewelry.
This year's tournament arena show will have an exciting theme: “Good versus Evil” – a story about a lost knight with golden eyes. Protagonists like the knight Orso von Greifenstein and the Black Knight Grimm promise exciting scenes. The presentation will be carried out by the well-known duo Britta Steffenhagen and Boris Aljinović.
Another highlight are the performances by renowned medieval bands such as Corvus Corax, Koenix and Tanzwut, who enrich the ambience of the event with their music. For those who like to be imaginative, there are storytellers and even human-sized puppets who take visitors into their own world.
Overall, the Kaltenberg knights' tournament will not only be the scene of impressive fights, but also a place to encounter the craftsmanship and music of the Middle Ages. A real must for every medieval fan! Those interested can find further information on the website Augsburg General, In Munich and City Country Tour.
