Rally to Kaltenberg: Cyclists brave the heat and low participation!

The fifth rally of the ADFC district association Fürstenfeldbruck took place on Sunday, September 22nd, 2025. The tourstwa-wold participants and passionate cyclists started early in the morning to begin their journey to Kaltenberg Schlossberg in the Landsberg am Lech district. The group set off at half past eight while the organizing members Adi Stumper and Bernhard Höhr made final preparations.

Despite the commitment of the organizers, the number of participants was low. Stumper was disappointed because usually 20 to 30 members gather on such tours. Despite the modest number, a few other cyclists joined us along the way, including a special “inclusion bike” with a young woman and her companion. Sueddeutsche Zeitung reports that a total of around 60 participants went on the trip, with the majority relying on pedelecs or e-bikes.

Cozy atmosphere despite the small number of participants

The route led from the starting point via Buchenau, Grafrath, Türkenfeld, Geltendorf and Eresing to the finish in Kaltenberg. Stumper said the low turnout could be due to the high temperatures and a recent anniversary tour. Nevertheless, around 45 cyclists reached the Ritterschwemme beer garden around eleven o'clock, where they sat together in a friendly atmosphere.

Heinrich Prince of Bavaria did not miss the opportunity to welcome those present and praised their commitment to the energy transition. For Geltendorf's mayor Robert Sedlmayr, this is a reason to hope that the participants motivate others through their commitment. Unfortunately, the planned castle tour and the bicycle blessing were canceled because the “Pumpkin Worlds” took place in the castle garden. Nevertheless, the cyclists received free entry to the pumpkin exhibition.

Modern and environmentally conscious on the move

“Organic bikers” are on the rise – a term that refers to cyclists who rely on conventional bicycles. On the return journey, the cyclists planned to be in time to see the film “25 km/h” in the Bruck cinema, where they also received free entry. At least a bit of film enjoyment after the sporting activity.

The entire event was part of the mobility week, which was significantly supported by the climate and energy agency of the districts of Starnberg, Fürstenfeldbruck and Landsberg am Lech. The initiative affects many regions, with the ADFC also holding similar events in other cities such as Stuttgart, which provide information about routes and proper preparation - as on the ADFC's interactive map ADFC. Here, participants can get tips on how to take part in events such as the rally safely and well prepared.

The ADFC website also contains useful information and tips for cyclists to stay safe on the road. Ultimately, cyclists and pedestrians, as unprotected road users, depend on the consideration of others - a reminder to always act carefully and foresight when cycling ADFC.
