Digital education in kindergarten: daycare centers in Main-Spessart are making progress!
In the Main-Spessart district, the digital future has found its way into daycare centers: nine daycare centers took part in the “Startchance kita.digital” training course, which deals with the safe and productive use of digital media. The media educator Frank Findeiß and his team have made a decisive contribution to promoting the media competence of educators, children and parents. The campaign resulted in not only the daycare teams being trained, but also the parents being actively introduced to the digital world.
Parents' evenings combined with practical exercises on tablets and other digital devices have proven to be particularly effective. Many parents reported positive experiences and a change in access to digital media, so that they are now more open and confident in using technology. Children were also actively involved: they used tablets, cameras and microphones to create films, media collages and audio games that show their ingenuity and creative use of technology.
A creative final event
The training culminated in the Holy Family community hall in Karlstadt, where the children's creative works were presented. The results not only showed how much fun the little ones had using digital media, but also the remarkable learning gain that came with it. These events have shown that the integration of digital media into everyday daycare is no longer a thing of the future, but already has a permanent place in education.
The combination of theory and practice has proven valuable in preparing children for the digital world. This approach will be pursued further in the future so that daycare centers can continue to establish digital media as an integral part of their work.
Proven further training
Another aspect of digital education in daycare centers is the tested further training “Digital Media in Daycare”, which is certified by the State Central Office for Distance Learning in Cologne (ZFU). This further training is checked by independent specialist staff to ensure the completeness of the content and the technically correct information. The exam also includes the analysis of the didactic structure, which helps to ensure learning success.
After successfully completing such further training, participants will be issued a digital certificate of completion. This ensures that the entire process is transparent and of high quality, which is of great value for the daycare centers in Main-Spessart.
The digital upgrade in our daycare centers is on a promising path. Parents, children and educators alike benefit from this development, which shows that digital learning and creative work can go hand in hand. It remains to be seen whether this will become a model for other districts in the region. But one thing is certain: we are actively working on the future here!
