Three masked people flex cigarette machines in Neuhütten – 1500 euros loot!
On the night of Sunday, October 26, 2025, residents of Steingrundstrasse in Neuhütten witnessed a brazen theft. At around 12:14 a.m., three masked men broke into a cigarette machine and escaped with around 1,500 euros in cigarettes and cash. According to reports from the Main-Post, the perpetrators were wearing dark clothing with hoods and fled in a dark small car towards Bischborner Hof. The Lohr police are now looking for witnesses who can provide relevant information about this incident. Anyone interested can contact us by calling (09352) 874130 or sending an email to pp-ufr.lohr.pi@polizei.bayern.de.
This type of crime seems to be increasing recently. A similar incident was also reported from Hückelhoven, a town a few kilometers away. An unknown woman stole a cigarette machine there, which is described as rather unusual. Normally such machines are broken into or blown up, not simply transported away. The Heinsberg police are also looking for witnesses who can provide information about the approximately 40-year-old suspect, who is described as being around 1.70 meters tall and with short, dark hair.
Crime statistics and developments
The decline in shoplifting (5.0%) and bicycle theft (6.9%) is particularly noticeable, while the number of residential burglaries shows slight increases. These developments could be related to various factors such as technical security measures and greater public awareness.
Clearance rate and dark field
The clearance rate for theft crimes was 31.4% in 2024, which is rather low compared to other crimes. What is particularly frightening is that only around 52% of theft crimes are reported, which indicates that there is a large number of unreported cases. This could lead to the actual crime rate being significantly higher than shown in the statistics.
It remains to be seen whether the numbers collected and the current trend in crime will also have an impact on public safety in Neuhütten. What is certain, however, is that even in these times the police rely on the help of the public to put an end to such crimes. It is not just material damage, but also a sense of security that should be maintained in communities.
