Leidsbach: Positive annual financial statements and new daycare places for 2025!

At the last meeting of the local council in Fehlsbach, a comprehensive report on the 2021 financial statements was given. The administrative budget amounted to 8.7 million euros, while the asset budget was 5.5 million euros. Thanks to solid planning during the Corona pandemic, a positive development was achieved, which was reflected in an addition to the asset budget of 1.97 million euros - originally only 502,000 euros were planned. An addition to reserves of 1.6 million euros rounds off the pleasing balance sheet. The local council unanimously acknowledged the result and commissioned the audit to comprehensively review the data, as main-echo.de reported.

A significant item in the bill was the savings in personnel of 240,000 euros as well as the additional income from various types of taxes: 360,000 euros in trade tax, 150,000 euros in income tax and 160,000 euros in wastewater disposal. The community has thus demonstrated a good knack for managing finances sensibly in times of crisis.

Daycare places at a good level

For the 2025/2026 kindergarten year, a need for 195 daycare places was identified, slightly down compared to the previous year with 200 places. However, there is positive news regarding the available places: instead of 202 as in the previous year, there are now 241 places available, which brings a significant improvement. The new building at the Brunnenfeld daycare center will offer 37 additional places to meet demand.

New developments in town

Another exciting topic is the planned conversion of a former bakery into a fitness studio. The application to lift the ban on changes, which has existed since 2024, was unanimously approved by the local council. The building permit is limited to 15 years, with ten parking spaces provided on an adjacent property.

The cost agreement with the Office for Rural Development (ALE) was accepted for village renewal. The municipality will pay a basic contribution of almost 4,000 euros for 2025. Such measures are part of a broader commitment to promote village development, since as bmleh.de explains, the promotion of rural areas contributes significantly to maintaining and improving living conditions in villages.

Promotion and planning

A citizen's proposal to change the “Heldchenboden” development plan, which planned to convert a commercial area into a mixed area, was also passed unanimously. In addition, the municipality will take part in the funding call for “renovation of municipal sports facilities” in order to receive financial support for the energy-efficient renovation of the multi-purpose hall. This meets the funding requirements because it is used intensively by regional clubs and the JFG Vorspessart.

However, there are also challenges. The on-call bus line 62 A in particular is causing dissatisfaction, as citizens complain about buses running late or not running at all. The mayor appears willing to talk and wants to follow up with the district office in order to remedy the situation.

With these developments, Leidsbach shows a strong commitment to the future of its rural area. The various projects and initiatives are a clear sign that the place remains on the move and is continually increasing its attractiveness for the population.
