Accident in Arnstein: Golf driver complains of neck pain after collision
Today, August 16, 2025, we report on various events in Cologne and the surrounding area that shape today's agenda. There are some interesting developments coming up, particularly in connection with road safety and crime.
A traffic accident in Arnstein caused a stir in the afternoon. At around 3:00 p.m. an Audi turned left from Wernstrasse onto Karlstadter Strasse and did not notice the Golf that had the right of way. The result: A collision in which the left front of the Audi hit the right front of the VW. The 29-year-old Golf driver complained of neck pain after the accident and was given first aid by the emergency services. While the Audi was ready to drive, the Golf had to be towed, which caused total damage of around 4,000 euros. The 35-year-old Audi driver is now facing an investigation for violating the right of way and negligent bodily harm. The Arnstein fire department was also on duty to support the traffic measures.
More incidents in the region
But that wasn't the only incident in the region. Between August 12th and 15th, the fuel cap of a parked Ford Fiesta in Karlstadt was torn off, causing damage of at least 100 euros. The Karlstadt police are already investigating and are asking for information on 09353/9741-0.
Another incident occurred on Friday between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.: Unknown people stole the exterior mirror caps of a parked Seat Leon in the area of the Triefenstein forest pool, which also resulted in damage of around 100 euros. Please contact the Marktheidenfeld police station on 09391/9841-0 for any information.
Crime statistics and traffic controls
There have also been several traffic controls in the last few days. On Thursday evening, a 34-year-old driver from Hasloch was stopped in his Toyota. He exhibited drug-typical abnormalities; a urine test returned a positive result for THC. This led to a blood sample, a fine of 500 euros, a month's driving ban and two points in Flensburg.
On Friday morning, a 43-year-old man from Marktheidenfeld was checked on his e-scooter and had 1.86 per mille of alcohol in his blood, which resulted in the scooter being confiscated and a fine depending on income. Another example of the strict monitoring of road safety: A driver in Neustadt a.Main was tested for the smell of alcohol shortly before midnight, the result was over 0.5 per mille, which meant he was faced with a fine and the threat of a driving ban.
Last but not least, I would like to take a look across the border to Switzerland, where, according to a recent publication [Swissinfo], the proportion of people who speak a non-national language is increasing. 66% of permanent residents use German as their main language, although other languages are also on the rise. English in particular is becoming increasingly important, especially in the workplace, where 23% of the workforce uses English.
These are clear developments that we should all be interested in, both in terms of road safety and cultural diversity. The day remains exciting and we will of course keep you updated.
