Career advice in the Miesbach district: record numbers of training places!

There is currently positive news for young people in the greater Rosenheim area. The employment agency presented an impressive balance sheet at the end of the 2024/2025 career advice year. Of the 2,223 young women and men who sought a training position, 2,161 were able to find a suitable position. These are encouraging figures for an important step into your professional life.

Some professions are in particularly high demand: among young women, medical assistants are at the top of the list with 130 new jobs. Office management clerks and dental assistants follow with 86 and 46 job offers. There are also clear preferences among men: automotive mechatronics technician in car technology (126), salesperson (72) and industrial mechanic (61) are the most sought-after professions.

Innovative approaches and challenges

The agency reports that a total of 2,923 of 3,382 registered training positions have been filled. However, a challenge remains. At the end of September, 58 positions were vacant in the Miesbach district. Nicole Cujai, the agency's CEO, emphasizes that it is important to publicize the wide range of professional opportunities. The career aspirations of girls and boys are often gender-specific, which could be seen as an obstacle to equal opportunities in the workplace.

In addition, 62 young people in the district were still looking for suitable prospects by the end of September. These young people receive support from career advisors who accompany them in their search for a training position. “I recommend contacting career advice early on,” emphasizes Cujai and would like to encourage young people to take advantage of the numerous training opportunities that have already been announced for next year.

Education as key

The current figures reflect the importance of education and vocational training. Studies show that gender differences in career choice have a significant impact on equality between women and men. Men still predominate in MINT professions (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology), while women are slowly catching up in engineering. The proportion of women in MINT training occupations remained relatively constant at 10.8% between 2017 and 2022. An imbalance that urgently needs to be addressed in order to improve women's career opportunities and thus promote broader equality.

But what about equal opportunities in education? According to a current social report, in 2022, 61.6% of men did not have a school leaving certificate, while the figure for women was only 38.4%. Such differences also legitimize consideration of how feasible it is to eliminate these inequalities and offer equal opportunities to all young people, regardless of gender or educational background.

Ultimately, the extremely positive performance of the employment agency can be interpreted as a boost for a future generation. It turned out that the path to a successful professional future is definitely “feasible” if the framework conditions are right and support is available.

With this balance, the signs for the coming year are promising. Companies are called upon to report open training positions in order to enable young people in the region to have a varied professional future.
