Big Oberlandler Gaufest 2025: A summer full of tradition and fun!
Things are really going on in Miesbach this summer. The traditional costume association invites everyone to celebrate the Oberlandler Gaufest together, which also offers a real experience for visitors from outside. From July 22nd to 27th there are a variety of events on the agenda that present Bavarian culture and tradition in the most beautiful light. The festival tent operation starts with a concert by the “Auf A Wort” ensemble on July 22nd, followed by a happy beer tapping and a hearty suckling pig dinner on July 24th, as [Süddeutsche] reports.
A highlight of the Gaufest is certainly the parade on July 27th. Around 5,000 traditional costumers are expected to parade through the streets in their magnificent traditional costumes. The historical splendor and the colorful flags are sure to attract many guests from the surrounding area such as tourists who want to indulge in Bavarian hospitality. At such festivities, it is crucial to find out about the admission prices and offers in advance so that the visit is harmonized with a hearty portion of Bavarian cosiness. Particularly large events, as [Gaudi Knopf] notes, often offer multilingual tours and information materials so that international guests can also get along well.
Diverse events and culinary delights
But that's not all. The Gauheimattag on July 25th and the Gaupreisplatteln as well as the traditional costume market on July 26th round off the festivities. Just as exciting is the culinary evening in downtown Miesbach, which takes place on August 6th, where the shops are open until 10 p.m. and a variety of specialties can be tried. And if that's not enough to satisfy your palate, visitors can look forward to a festival at the Hopf wheat beer brewery on August 30th.
In addition, the Waldecker Tournament Days will be held from August 8th to 10th and will feature a market, field camps, falconers, musicians and jugglers. These events enliven the region and strengthen a sense of community while providing guests with an exciting cultural scene.
Artistic experiences in autumn
For all those who are interested in art, the mobile studio of the Bavarian Association of Visual Artists will be available in Waitzinger Park from mid-September. Workshops are offered here under the direction of the talented sculptor Julia Eichler from Halle an der Saale. This provides a wonderful opportunity to spark creativity and learn new skills.
In addition to the festivities, the Olaf Gulbransson Museum in Tegernsee has presented a new publication. Andrea Bambi's collection guide explores the life and work of the famous artist, known for his contributions to the satirical magazine Simplicissimus, and features digital collections as well as historical black and white photos. A visit is undoubtedly worthwhile for art enthusiasts who want to find out more about the development and highlights of the museum.
Summer and autumn in Miesbach not only promise a colorful hustle and bustle with the many traditional festivals, but also culturally rich experiences that are suitable for all age groups - a real gem of the Bavarian way of life that you shouldn't miss.
