However, initial considerations for expanding into an area of around 14,000 square meters fell by the wayside. The urban development committee decided at a meeting not to approve any further building plans for the time being. “We first want to put the 77 new apartments into operation and give the new environment time to develop,” explains Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller.
Second Mayor Astrid Güldner and other committee members support this stance. “The social and ecological value of the Schlittenberg should not be underestimated,” she emphasizes. However, there are also critical voices: Kick van Walbeek from the Greens expresses concerns about the slope and the possible heavy rain events that may occur.
