SCR is preparing for the start of the season: final tests against Füssen and Miesbach!
SC Riessersee (SCR) is in the middle of intensive preparations for the upcoming ice hockey season, which is scheduled to officially begin on September 19, 2025. The team's final test matches are scheduled for the weekend. On Friday the team will meet EV Füssen and on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. they will face TEV Miesbach in the Olympic Ice Sports Center Garmisch-Partenkirchen. These encounters are crucial for the team to put the newly formed collective through its paces. Experienced Thomas Schmid is optimistic and emphasizes the dynamic team atmosphere and the high fitness level of the players. The new additions are motivated and well integrated into the team, which lays the foundation for a successful season. Ice Hockey Magazine reports that the preparation began on August 18th when the SCR started its first ice training.
Overall, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen team completed an extensive preparation program, which included, among other things, a tournament in Peiting and several test games against well-known opponents, such as the Kitzbüheler EC and the Rostock Piranhas. During the test matches, the north stand and the east corner are open to fans, although there is no free choice of seats. The ticket prices are quite family-friendly: seats cost €15.00 and standing room costs €10.00.
Preparation and new challenges
The exciting phase of preparation for the season brought with it additional challenges due to the renovation work on the ice surface in the Olympic Ice Sports Center. The SCR initially had to move to an alternative ice surface while the new flex boards were installed. This work is scheduled to be completed on September 1st, 2025, which was in time for the first home game on September 6th. An impressive supporting program for the season opening also took place here, which promised an even more atmospheric start to the new season. SCR Riessersee also provides information about the importance of these test games for team chemistry and individual performance.
In the hot phase of preparation, aspects of summer training are also crucial. This not only includes ice training, but also various fitness measures that get the team in shape. Professional athletes emphasize that such preparations are particularly important for endurance and strength, which pays off when performing on the ice. Tailor-made training plans that take into account individual tests by athletic trainers strengthen the team spirit and the performance of the individual players. Owayo emphasizes that team-building measures should not be neglected.
Competitive preparation and motivated newcomers
The team was immediately strengthened in the summer with new players who fit seamlessly into a well-rehearsed structure. The challenges in the Bayernliga should not be underestimated, and TEV Miesbach is considered the favorite. With former SCR players in the squad, the game against Miesbach will be a duel with a lot of emotion and rivalry. At the same time, EV Füssen does not remain idle and has kept some of their key players, such as top scorer Bauer Neudecker and goalkeeper Benedikt Hötzinger, in the team in order to maximize their chances of success.
The last tests this weekend are of immense importance for SC Riessersee. With a clear view of the upcoming challenges in the Oberliga Süd, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen team hope to start the season with a strong squad and convince the fans in the Olympic Ice Sports Center of their abilities. Whether with an old or new team, the SCR seems to be well on its way to starting the season with promising ambitions.
