Three choirs inspire with a rousing autumn concert in Niedernberg!

The colorful sounds of a cheerful autumn evening filled the Niedernberger Musicum on Saturday. Three different choirs got the audience singing and rocking along. The evening began with the impressive piece “Da pacem Domine” by Melchior Franck, followed by a warm welcome from board member Reinhold Hans, who set the mood for a musical journey. The first songs of the evening, including Maierhofer's “Cantemus” and “Tourdion” by Pierre Attaingnant, already demonstrated the versatility and harmony of the performances Main-Echo.

The Via Nova choir from Munich, which has around 45 singers and is directed by Kerstin Behnke, impressed with exciting melodies and a variety of styles. The choir is not only known for its contemporary choral music, but also has its sights set on traditional music. Over the years, the Via Nova Choir has won numerous awards, including the Bavarian State Prize for Music in the “Lay Music Making” category in 2023 as well as several first prizes in international competitions, including the renowned choir competition in Barcelona via-nova-chor.

An evening full of surprises

Things got particularly lively when the young band Butterfly from Mömlingen carried the audience away with hits like “Sucker” by the Jonas Brothers and “Ain’t Nobody”. The audience couldn't help but tap along to the beat. The Großwallstadt men's choir Belcanto also contributed its part to this entertaining evening. Under the direction of Klaus Georg Müller, they sang pieces such as “You are the new day” and “We shall walk through the valley” with great commitment.

A real highlight was the common canon to “He ho, hitch up the car,” in which all the choirs and spectators were united. The spirit of community that is often noticeable at such events was evident here. Mömlingen's choir also presented a special version of "No Beautiful Land", followed by other touching songs such as "Stuck in a moment" and "Let the music on". The crowning finale was the Via Nova choir, which left the stage with “Eight Days a Week” by the Beatles, a catchy tune that resonated for a long time.

Choirs in competition

The high quality and the fun that the choirs spread at the concert cannot be taken for granted. Germany is known for numerous choirs and competitions that present themselves. These include the German Choir Competition, the Eurovision Choir of the Year and numerous other competitions in Europe, which are also very popular beyond the borders Wikipedia.

The evening ended in a warm atmosphere, with conversations about the music and a glass of wine, which perfectly rounded off the good atmosphere. A successful concert that will be fondly remembered by everyone in attendance.
