Drivers under drugs and alcohol: Police stop traffic offenders in Miltenberg!
Yesterday afternoon, November 12th, 2025, the police officers in Miltenberg once again kept their eyes open. A 28-year-old German driver caught the attention of inspectors on Luitpoldstrasse when they smelled alcohol during a routine check. The alcohol test revealed a level that was just over the 0.5 alcohol limit. As a result, the driver had to end his journey immediately and his car keys were confiscated. Such measures are not only annoying for those affected, but are also in the context of the strict regulations that apply to drink driving. According to e-recht24, the legal consequences can vary depending on the alcohol level and range from fines to points in Flensburg to driving bans and license revocations.
In the evening, the police once again identified a fellow citizen who was not particularly considerate of traffic rules. A 35-year-old driver of a VW Golf drove “Am Knückel” without turning on his low beam. The check revealed that he was also under the influence of drugs, specifically THC. His journey was also stopped and a blood sample was ordered. Anyone who thinks that drinking and drugs while driving is harmless fun is very much mistaken, as the legal consequences are far-reaching and can prove to be very costly.
Alcohol and drugs: serious consequences for traffic offenders
In 2024, there were around 34,700 traffic accidents in Germany that were caused by alcohol - that's an average of 95 accidents per day, a worrying figure. Father's Day 2024 was particularly drastic, with a sad record of 287 accidents. In order to prevent such numbers from rising further, the legislature has set clear guidelines: If you are found to have an alcohol level between 0.5 and 1.09 per mille without any symptoms of failure, you face a fine of 500 to 1,500 euros and a driving ban of one to three months. Things get worse from a value of 1.1 per mille, because then one speaks of absolute inability to drive with even more drastic penalties.
Drugs while driving are taken seriously. Proof of an intoxicating substance is enough to be considered a violation. There are no limits here like there are for alcohol, which makes the situation even more complicated for drivers. The importance of being aware of the risks is demonstrated not only by the legal consequences, but also by the increased risk of accidents that comes with the consumption of drugs and alcohol.
Whether it’s an e-scooter or a car – the alcohol limits remain the same. It is therefore up to each individual to keep a cool head and protect not only their own lives, but also those of other road users.
