On August 15, 2025, a significant event took place in Mühldorf: the 250th consecration of the parish church of St. Nicholas. On this special day, which coincidentally also fell on the Assumption Day, the celebratory service was held by Reinhard Cardinal Marx, who even interrupted his vacation plans for this. The service was led by Dean Klaus Vogl and was well attended.
The traditional parish church of St. Nicholas was consecrated on August 15, 1775 by Prince Archbishop Hieronymus of Colloredo. To celebrate the anniversary, Cardinal Marx brought two auxiliary bishops with him from Münster and delighted those attending the service with a moving sermon, despite his back problems that forced him to speak while sitting. In his address, Marx emphasized the brotherhood among people and the central role of the Gospel. Particularly worth mentioning was the blessing of the herb bushes that many visitors brought with them.
Guests of honor and musical accompaniment
The event also attracted numerous local guests of honor, including MP Stephan Mayer, CSU General Secretary Martin Huber, MP Sascha Schnürer, District Administrator Max Heimerl and Mayor Michael Hetzl. Dean Vogl took the opportunity to thank the many helpers who contributed to the preparation of the festival and the renovation work on the church.
The musical accompaniment to the festive service was provided by the church choir of St. Nikolaus, under the direction of Alexander Aigner. Soloists and an orchestra also contributed significantly to the festive atmosphere. After the service, Vogl cordially invited church visitors to take part in the parish festival that followed in order to celebrate together.
