Record city run in Mühldorf: 1057 runners on the road for a good cause!

The first ODU city run took place in Mühldorf on October 27, 2025, an event that thrilled the city. Over 1,000 participants, 1,057 to be exact, made this run a true record event. The original target number of 400 participants was far exceeded. Even the registration deadline, which was 800, could not stop the additional 200 runners on the day of the event, who enriched the sporting event with their presence. Innsalzach24 reports that the running shirts for the event sold out quickly, which impressively underlined the large number of people.

The city run, which was organized by the economic development department of the city of Mühldorf, took place as part of the “mühldorf BEWEGT” initiative. Mayor Michael Hetzl emphasized the importance of the main sponsor ODU, a leading manufacturer of connector systems, which not only helped with the organization, but also made a financial contribution of 5 euros for each lap completed for the planned motor skills park. The aim of this initiative was to collect a total of 60,000 euros by the end of October. Digital Villages highlights that 6,709 laps have already been run, bringing the fundraising goal a little closer.

An event for all generations

The run covered a circuit of almost 1.2 kilometers through the old town, and the atmosphere was exuberant. The Mühldorf middle school was well represented with 56 students and 11 teachers and was rewarded with a special prize for their participation. The club groups also demonstrated their skills: FC Mühldorf was the largest club group with 39 participants, while ODU was the sportiest company with 155 employees. Managing Director Dr. Henner Spelsberg and Robert Klemisch also ran, which not only underlined the team spirit, but also the company's social responsibility, which BMAS covers in its reporting.

Under the motto “Movement for everyone”, it was important to the organizers that all citizens could take part. There was support from various supply stations as well as a delicious selection of cakes, and the children were also entertained by the magic clown Manuela in the Haberkasten. During the Simon Judi market, which traditionally took place in the town square, the event also had a festive touch. The shops in the city center opened their doors from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., giving visitors the opportunity to stroll and shop in the city after the run.

A great result for a good cause

The medal for all participants and the prizes for the most hard-working runners created a motivating atmosphere. Ultimately, the fundraising campaign was considered a complete success: Even though the main goal of 60,000 euros had not yet been reached, the 6,709 laps completed had already brought an impressive sum into the coffers. “It was a real community experience that shows how important exercise and team spirit are,” said Mayor Hetzl, who completed 7 laps himself and spread a good atmosphere.

Overall, the first Mühldorf city run not only attracted numerous participants, but also increased awareness of the social responsibility of companies and the promotion of exercise within the community. An event that was not only sporty, but also touched the hearts of the citizens!
