A dangerous incident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2025, on the banks of the Isar near the Jakob Bauer Bridge in Sendling, Munich. According to a report by South German newspaper There was an argument between a 34-year-old from Munich and an unknown passer-by. The exchange quickly escalated and led to a scuffle during which the attacker pushed the 34-year-old's head under water. Fortunately, other passers-by became aware of the violent argument and intervened, so that the attacker finally let go of his victim.
The 34-year-old suffered shortness of breath and dizziness as a result of the incident and was treated as an outpatient in hospital. The unknown man, who is described as being around 30 to 35 years old, has muscular upper arms and a shaved chest. He wears his brown hair a little longer and styled in a side parting. He was dressed in black swimming trunks and flip-flops, he also had a small black backpack with him and was accompanied by two dogs, one brown and one black. The homicide squad has started an investigation to identify the attacker and bring him to justice.
Investigations into the surfing accident on the Eisbach
As a result of the accident, the Eisbach wave was closed to surfers and cordoned off with bars, which led to considerable criticism from surfers. Even NFL superstar Tom Brady expressed his solidarity with the affected surfers. There were reports of masked groups continuing to surf the Eisbach wave despite the ban. Failure to comply with this blocking can result in fines of up to 50,000 euros. Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) asked for patience from surfers and promised to work for a quick reopening of the popular attraction.
