Basketball fans celebrate in Ulm: Germany wins against Montenegro!
The European Basketball Championship is in full swing, and the public viewing at the OrangeCampus in Neu-Ulm today brought happy faces at the German national team's opening game against Montenegro. Despite the uninviting weather conditions and a bit of rain, around 70 basketball fans gathered on the banks of the Danube to watch the game together. Marius, an enthusiastic fan from Ulm, was happy about the opportunity to be there live and enjoy the atmosphere. The students Kathrin and Florentina were also completely in their element and had already taken part in previous games. They probably didn't let the weather bother them any more than the old hands, who steadfastly set off for the fan club despite the rain.
The public viewing was offered in collaboration with MagentaSport and gave fans the opportunity to follow the games on a large LED wall. Admission to the event is free and invites you to experience the fascination of basketball up close. It is an exciting challenge for the German players who compete in Group B under coach Alex Mumbru. Opponents such as Sweden, Lithuania and hosts Finland are waiting for the team in the group.
Sunshine after the game
While the spectators experienced the first quarter in rain showers, the sun came out immediately after the final whistle. The German team was able to prevail against Montenegro with an impressive 106:76 win. Len Schoormann, a newly signed player, expressed optimism about the national team's performance. U18 player Linus Jaud, who stopped by the public viewing for his upcoming training, was thrilled by what he saw.
Overall, the European Basketball Championship shows impressive diversity with the participation of 24 nations, including major basketball nations such as Spain, France and Greece. The best four teams in each of the four groups of six qualify for the round of 16, which makes the competition particularly exciting.
Public viewing in other cities
If you can't be there in Neu-Ulm, you also have the opportunity to watch the German national team's games live in Frankfurt. Another public viewing will take place there in the Massif Central in Bethmannhof. The broadcast is also free here with various game dates and a welcoming atmosphere for the community.
So there is no reason for all basketball fans to prefer the sofa at home. Whether in Neu-Ulm or Frankfurt, the European Championship offers exciting games and the opportunity to celebrate with like-minded people. Preparing for the Germans' next game together is simply more fun. So let's keep our fingers crossed and celebrate with our favorite players!
