SPD Neuburg celebrates successes: Modern and ready for the mayor election!

The traditional end-of-year celebration of the SPD local association was celebrated at the Gasthaus Pfafflinger in Neuburg on December 5, 2025. Local association chairman Waheed Niaz reflected on the last twelve months and emphasized the significant organizational realignment and rejuvenation of the association. “The SPD Neuburg has become more modern, more lively and more open,” explained Niaz, while also pointing to the upcoming mayoral election on March 8, 2026. In this context, the support for the joint mayoral candidate Gerhard Schoder is seen as a strong signal of unity. The decision not to field a candidate of his own was made from a position of strength, he added.

There were also some prominent personalities among the guests: the district chairman and district administrator candidate Werner Widuckel, mayoral candidate Gerhard Schoder and long-time city councilor Horst Gutjahr. Appreciation for long-standing members was also on the agenda: Edeltraud Jakobfalvy was honored with the golden badge of honor for an impressive 50 years of membership in the SPD. In addition, six new members, including three women and three men, were officially welcomed to the local association. This shows that the SPD is not only holding on, but is also actively providing new impulses.

Political discussions and future-oriented topics

The meeting provided a stage for stimulating discussions on various local political issues. Group spokesman Ralph Bartoscheck reported on the current work of the SPD city council group and highlighted important points: the planning of a second Danube bridge, consideration of a possible bicycle bridge and the future direction of local public transport. These issues are of central importance to citizens and reflect the social responsibility that the SPD has taken up. Social justice also remains a central concern of local SPD politics, as Bartoscheck vividly explained.

Another focal point of the evening event was the international Movember campaign, which draws attention to men's health. Many people present wore symbolic mustaches to send a visible signal of awareness and support. Niaz emphasized the importance of prevention and the need to also offer men space for health and support. This action followed seamlessly on the content of the evening, which ranged from political reviews to substantive debates and social responsibility.

Overall, the end-of-year celebration made it clear that the Neuburg SPD local association is active and committed - not only in politics, but also in the social and cultural areas. The members of the SPD Neuburg are ready to work together with the citizens on shaping the future, be it in the local or association council as well as in the district council. All information and topics can be found well prepared on their website and social media to encourage broad participation in the challenges ahead.
