Frost and fog warn: Bavaria is preparing for frosty nights!
Today, November 6th, 2025, the weather in Bavaria shows its wintry side. While temperatures appear mild during the day, the nights are cold and frosty. The German Weather Service (DWD) therefore warns of frost and in some areas also of fog. These warnings are active from early this morning until dawn.
At first it will be frosty in many parts of Bavaria, with temperatures down to -1 degrees, and in the southeast even down to -3 degrees. Augsburger Allgemeine highlights that the frost warning applies from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m., with some areas such as the district and city of Hof and the district of Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge are excluded from this.
Fog and visibility obstructions
In addition to the cold, the fog causes significant obstructions to visibility. According to the DWD, visibility of less than 150 meters has been possible since Wednesday afternoon and until around 10 a.m. on Thursday. The Oberallgäu district and the city of Kempten are exempt from this fog warning. Drivers are asked to adjust their speed and pay attention to driving in dense fog.
All weather conditions are the result of high pressure influence, which favors an inversion weather situation. This will cause persistent fog and high fog, especially on Friday night, where temperatures will continue to fall. Owners of plants or outdoor pipes should therefore consider frost protection measures, such as covering plants or draining water from pipes.
Outlook for the next few days
As the DWD further reports, the weather in Bavaria will remain unstable until the weekend. Tomorrow, Friday, it will remain cloudy all day due to fog and high fog; the sun will only shine through in the Alps and higher ridges. During the day temperatures between 2 and 9 degrees are expected, while in the Alps temperatures can reach up to 16 degrees.
The fog will remain a constant companion in the coming nights. On Saturday night it will be widely foggy, with minimum temperatures down to -3 degrees in Alpine and Bavarian Forest valleys. This will cause some frosty surprises.
As Bavaria experiences these frosty days, it is important to be well informed and prepared when it comes to weather conditions. Adapt, prepare and be vigilant – this is how you avoid the inconveniences of frost and fog. The next few days will bring with them some challenges, but there will also always be beautiful moments in the sun to enjoy.
For many, the hope for mild temperatures and sunshine remains high. We'll stay tuned to developments for you as the weather continues to change. Stay warm and safe!
