Corpus Christi in Neustadt: brass music and Prosecco inspire everyone!

On Wednesday evening the Corpus Christi celebration in Neustadt took place in a very special way. The decades-long tradition of tattooing, which was canceled last year due to unfortunate circumstances, was replaced this year by a series of concerts under the motto “Music and Conviviality”. The Kulturfreunde Lobkowitz and the Neustadt City Band ensured that the citizens were able to get into a festive mood this year too. Loud oberpfalzecho.de Both district administrator Andreas Meier and city priest Thomas Kopp were active supporters of this initiative.

The event began with the first concert at the hospice on Felixberg, where brass music thrilled the listeners for around 30 minutes. Afterwards, the second concert took place in the Freyung, where Fabio Bruner from the Pizzeria Gino organized a spontaneous Prosecco offer. The crowning finale was the third concert in front of the picturesque Lobkowitz Castles, at which District Administrator Meier and his daughter were also present. Town priest Kopp insisted on picking up the trumpet and getting involved musically.

A look into the future

The positive response from the guests has already increased anticipation for next year. Bernhard Knauer from the Kulturfreunde Lobkowitz expressed the wish to repeat the concerts next year in order to continue the tradition of Corpus Christi celebrations in Neustadt. “We just had fun!” said Knauer. This is a good sign that the community is coming together and the traditions that bind us will continue to be maintained.

Corpus Christi has not only musical but also deeper religious roots. In the Catholic tradition, this holiday is, among other things, about solemn thanksgiving for the “living bread,” as Jesus describes it in the Bible. The message that Jesus gives his flesh to nourish and redeem humanity plays a central role here. This becomes especially clear when we remember that those who eat this bread will have eternal life. katholisch.at highlights the importance of the spiritual celebration of Corpus Christi, which particularly honors the sacrament of the Eucharist.

The initiative to celebrate Corpus Christi in this way shows how important culture and community are in Neustadt and that in difficult times new ways can be found to keep traditions alive. The anticipation of continuing these celebrations next year allows the shared spirit of Neustadt to shine and is a sign of cohesion in the community.
