Today, June 21, 2025, it's all about a great event that not only makes the hearts of motorcyclists beat faster, but also benefits many children and families in need in the region. Over 1,000 bikers gather in Marktoberdorf for the Toy Run, one of the largest charitable motorcycle rides in southern Germany, which has become a tradition since 2003. The Toy Run Mod association, which organizes the event, supports children and their families in need.
Registration for the Toy Run begins at 1 p.m. at the Modeon festival site. Each participant receives a lovingly designed Toy Run bear as a souvenir of this special day. The convoy starts at 3 p.m. and travels through the picturesque landscape of the Eastern Allgäu at a comfortable speed of around 60 km/h. The route leads back to Modeon through several towns and the entire journey usually takes around 90 minutes. The weather promises to be sunny and warm, attracting more spectators to come by to donate and watch.
A look into history
The roots of the Toy Run go back to 2002, when a six-year-old boy was diagnosed with cancer. This sad news led the founders of TOY RUN MOD e.V. to realize that there is an urgent need to support the needs of sick children and their families. The idea of improving the playroom of a children's cancer ward through a charity trip was born back in 2003 - the first step in a successful and moving story.
In 2004, the sponsoring association was finally founded, which established itself as a non-profit organization and was able to collect more than 140,000 euros to help needy children and families in the following years. 100 percent of all donations collected go towards support measures such as clothing, school supplies, rent, utilities and shopping vouchers. Transparency plays a big role here, because the club allows everyone who is interested to have an insight into the cash management.
Funds raised and recognition
The importance of the Toy Run now transcends regional borders. In addition to the large motorcycle ride, the association also has a stand at various events, such as the Marktoberdorf Christmas market, to draw attention to their work. The support of third parties, be it participants, helpers or sponsors, is always gratefully acknowledged.
Collaboration with local communities and authorities is essential to continue this valuable work. Thanks to such initiatives, Toy Run Mod is able to offer targeted help where it is needed most.
