A serious accident occurred on Friday evening on the B12 near Passau, which caused a stir on November 8, 2025. The 16-year-old pedestrian from the Salzweg community suddenly crossed the street and was hit by a car. The incident happened in the Christdobl district at around 6:15 p.m. The 72-year-old driver, who was traveling in the same direction, was no longer able to react in time, causing the boy to be hit head-on by the vehicle and thrown several meters through the air. The unfortunate circumstances of the accident have left the community in a state of excitement.
After initial treatment on site, the seriously injured man was transported to the hospital. The police have now launched an investigation against the driver for negligent bodily harm on the road. Administrative offense proceedings are also underway against the pedestrian, as the question of guilt has not been assessed by the police and has been forwarded to the public prosecutor's office for review. Experts have already been commissioned to clarify the exact course of the accident. The vehicle involved in the accident was seized and the B12 was closed in both directions for around two hours while the rescue and investigation work took place. The Grubweg volunteer fire department took over traffic measures and illuminated the scene of the accident.
Another accident on the B12
The tragic incidents on the B12 also include another terrible accident that occurred on Sunday night. A 65-year-old man was killed when a 53-year-old driver swerved into the opposite lane for unknown reasons, resulting in a head-on collision. The 65-year-old could not be saved and was pulled out of the wreckage dead, while the other driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Here too, the public prosecutor's office became active in order to clarify the course of the accident and bring in experts. The B12 was also completely closed for several hours, resulting in extensive property damage.
These two tragic events add to a worrying statistic observed on the B12 in Lower Bavaria. The police appeal to all road users to be vigilant and exercise extra caution on the roads to avoid such accidents. Safety on our roads is important to all of us.
