The weather situation in Bavaria is currently tense. Severe thunderstorms are forecast in various parts of the Free State as temperatures gradually fall. A low over Eastern Europe is bringing cool, moist air, which is causing changeable weather, especially in eastern Bavaria. So report Mercury that the thunderstorm warnings have been lifted in some parts, such as the Deggendorf district in Lower Bavaria, but other regions or even districts remain on high alert.
Areas such as Hof, Wunsiedel and Bayreuth are particularly affected, but Cham, Straubing-Bogen and Ingolstadt also have to prepare for heavy thunderstorms. The first damage has already occurred in Deggendorf: fallen trees caused traffic delays, but fortunately there were no injuries. The thunderstorm front is moving towards southeast Bavaria and is bringing with it heavy rain of up to 30 liters per square meter and hail with a diameter of up to 2 cm.
Temperatures and unstable weather
The temperatures in Bavaria are currently between 22 and 27 degrees. Although a slight cooling is on the way - at night it cools down to 10 to 15 degrees - the weather situation remains unstable. Meteorologists are expecting renewed showers and thunderstorms in the coming days, which will shape the forecast. According to the weather service, further thunderstorms are to be expected from Saturday afternoon, although localized storms with heavy rain of up to 40 liters in a short period of time cannot be ruled out.
The German Weather Service also warns of gusts of up to 75 km/h. These warnings are sent by Weather hazards and BR added that advise caution. In fog conditions, visibility of less than 150 meters may occur on Saturday night, adding to the challenges in the affected areas.
