The first round of the DFB Cup was drawn on Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, and the tension in the football scene is palpable. The event took place at 5:15pm and produced some interesting matchups that will have football fans excited.
FC Bayern Munich, the undisputed favorite, will face third division team SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round. Amateurs on the big stage
The amateur clubs in particular are hoping for well-known opponents to get some light from the big stage. The participants also include Preußen Münster, Dynamo Dresden and Hansa Rostock. The amateur pot contains the teams just mentioned, while the professional pot consists of 18 Bundesliga teams and the 14 best-placed teams in the 2nd Bundesliga. A total of 64 teams will take part in the first round of the 2025/2026 DFB Cup, drawn from the various leagues and national cup winners, which promises an exciting mix.
The first main round games will take place between August 15th and 18th, 2025. So if you want to experience an exciting week of football, you should mark these dates in red on your calendar. There will be further games on August 26th and 27th, followed by the second main round at the end of October and the most important rounds until the grand finale in Berlin on May 23rd, 2026.
