Hoffenheim II celebrates its third home win with a 1-0 win against Regensburg!
The U23s of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim celebrated a 1-0 win against SSV Jahn Regensburg on Saturday afternoon in the Dietmar Hopp Stadium. This gave Hoffenheim their third home win in a row, which doesn't happen often this season. This important success came less than a week after they suffered a 2-3 defeat against FC Ingolstadt 04.
In the first half, Regensburg clearly dominated the game and had some promising chances. Christian Kühlwetter was able to serve Noel Eichinger in the second minute, but he shot past. Further top-class opportunities were missed by Eric Hottmann (15th minute) and Eichinger, who was denied by Hoffenheim keeper Lúkas Petersson in the 22nd minute. Kühlwetter also had a great chance in the 34th minute, but missed quite carelessly. Despite this superiority, Hoffenheim remained strong defensively in the first half and were able to keep the score.
Turning point in the second half
The second half of the game then belonged to the home team. Hoffenheim became more courageous and created several chances. Deniz Zeitler shot wide in the 48th minute, but had further chances in the 53rd and 63rd minutes. Ben Labes also had good opportunities when he scored three times in quick succession in the 57th, 61st and 71st minutes.
The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute: A foul on Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab by Leo Mätzler led to a penalty for Hoffenheim. Luka Đurić took responsibility and safely converted the penalty - the ball hit the left corner and put TSG in the lead. Regensburg was then unable to find its way into the game and had no luck offensively. The game ended with a 1-0 win for Hoffenheim.
Game statistics and outlook
The number of spectators in the stadium was 1,021, while the yellow cards were handed out to Đurić, Schönfelder, Saller on the Hoffenheim side and Kühlwetter on the guests' side. With this victory, Hoffenheim positions itself in 6th place in the table with a total of 27 points. Regensburg, on the other hand, falls back to 15th place and currently has 20 points.
Things continue for TSG on December 13th when they face 1. FC Saarbrücken at 2 p.m. Fans can remain curious to see whether Hoffenheim can continue their upward trend.
