Royal Night of Fashion: Regensburg enchants at the Donaumarkt!
The eagerly awaited “Night of Fashion” will take place in Regensburg on August 2nd, where the designers from the German Master School of Fashion will present their latest creations. The event at the Donaumarkt promises a fascinating spectacle, inspired by the Bavarian state exhibition “Ludwig I - Bavaria's Greatest King?”, which will be on display in the House of Bavarian History from May to November 2025. Regensburg News reports that the collection will be presented in three shows at 3:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., while Valerie Fischer will host the program.
At this outdoor event, guests can expect not only fashion, but also a colorful supporting program: from 2 p.m. the Donaumarkt opens with a lounge area and culinary delicacies from InDish, complemented by a live DJ set from Adrian. Embedded in this fashionable spectacle, the House of Bavarian History will be open on this day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will offer free tours of the Bavarian State Exhibition. This special insight into the time of King Ludwig I is possible every hour from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
King Ludwig I and his meaning
The Bavarian State Exhibition shows the upheavals that Bavaria went through during the reign of King Ludwig I. This began in 1825 and lasted until his resignation in 1848. Ludwig I is characterized in the exhibition as both a beacon of hope for the liberals and an art-loving ruler. The Bavarian thermal region emphasizes that industrialization also began during this exciting time, symbolized by large construction projects in Munich, the Ludwig-Donau-Main Canal and the expansion of railway lines.
The show will also look at the political trends of the time that led Ludwig I towards censorship and away from liberal ideas as he feared for the retention of his power. In addition, the role of personalities from his environment is examined, including Joseph Ludwig Graf von Armansperg and Lola Montez, whose influence on society and the king should not be underestimated. The monarch's resignation is a central issue - a step that highlighted not only political but also social unrest in the country.
The state capital is changing
The exhibition under the motto “Ludwig I – Bavaria’s greatest king?” takes place in the special exhibition area of the Danube Hall of the House of Bavarian History and addresses the diverse facets of Ludwig's reign in an exciting way. Museums in Bavaria describes that numerous displays, media installations and activity stations will offer visitors an impressive experience. Not only is the great architecture of the time honored here, but also the customs and traditions that shaped life in Bavaria.
At the end of this cultural and historical journey, a family day with free admission and a fashion show with haute couture clothing are planned as part of the supporting program, which will stylishly round off the themes of the exhibition. The exhibition is an absolute must for anyone who wants to learn more about the influence of Ludwig I and experience the changes in Bavaria.
