In recent weeks, several road traffic incidents have attracted the attention of police and the public. In Bad Königshofen in particular, in the Rhön-Grabfeld district, there was an alarming incident that shed new light on the issue of aggression in road traffic. Loud revista.de The police are investigating a dangerous incident that occurred on Wednesday between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. on Hindenburgstrasse. The incidents in road traffic are not only an issue in Bad Königshofen. There was also recently an aggressive incident in Cologne that put the police's scope for action to the test. Aggression in traffic is increasing

These incidents highlight a worrying trend in road safety. A current study published by insurers' accident research shows that the perception of aggressiveness in road traffic has increased significantly. Around 56% of survey participants said they drive faster when they are angry. Six years ago this value was significantly lower. Many drivers also use aggressive driving maneuvers to relieve stress. For example, 44% of those surveyed reported that they intentionally brake briefly to irritate people in pursuit.

The chairman of “FUSS e.V.”, Roland Stimpel, sees the lack of space and the increased demand for rights as reasons for the increasing aggressiveness in traffic. The differences in perception between drivers and cyclists are also significant: 96% of drivers believe they keep enough distance when overtaking cyclists; However, 93% of drivers find that this is not the case for others. Such misjudgments contribute to general insecurity and aggressiveness.

Demands for change

Given these developments, there are increasing calls for stricter controls and higher fines for traffic violations. 68% of the study participants supported a zero blood alcohol limit for all drivers, while - especially older survey participants - are open to stricter speed limits. However, despite this need, over half of those surveyed say they have been checked for more than five years or never, indicating a major deficit in traffic enforcement.

The issues of safety and aggression in road traffic are of enormous importance not only locally, but also regionally. The police hope that the calls for witnesses will provide valuable information in order to be able to solve the respective crimes and thus contribute to a safer traffic situation.
