Rescue heroes in training: Bad Königshofen is training new machinists!

An intensive machinist course recently took place in Bad Königshofen, which ended with a positive outcome. This course, organized in the fire station, attracted 15 participants from various fire departments in the Rhön-Grabfeld district. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, including Johannes Rebelein, Commander Jochen Krug, Oliver Schmitt and Jochen Staub, the aspiring machinists gained valuable knowledge about firefighting technology.

The focus of the training was on the tasks of a machinist, engine knowledge and the legal basics that are necessary when dealing with fire engines. Topics such as technical assistance, water pumping and the need for fire-fighting water were also discussed. An essential part of the practical exercises was working with a fire extinguishing centrifugal pump as well as the use of ventilation devices and maintenance and care of the devices. The participants also had to prove themselves in a practical test, which included sucking water from a hydrant and the dry suction test. The course also covered how to handle electrical devices and submersible pumps, as reported by feuerwehr-le.de.

An important step for the participants

The training was led by Christoph Wohlfart, the training manager, who emphasized the importance of technical assistance during his speech. “These skills are not only crucial for operations, but can save lives in an emergency,” emphasized Wohlfahrt. After completing the course, the graduates are now allowed to drive vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tons, which represents significant progress for them.

The participants proudly accepted their certificates, including names like Simon Wiegand from Strahlen, Jonas Schmitt from Bad Königshofen, and many more. A full list of graduates is:

  • Simon Wiegand (FW Strahlungen)
  • Jonas Schmitt (Bad Königshofen)
  • Sebastian Blumenröder
  • Benjamin Mauer
  • Sascha Roth (Aubstadt)
  • Marco Geißler (Herbstadt)
  • Christoph Hartmann
  • Levin Müller (Höchheim)
  • Kevin Höft
  • Rainer Weisensee (Sulzfeld)
  • Benedikt Apler
  • Philipp Bauer
  • Alexander Bötsch (Trappstadt)
  • Patrick Weisenseel (Oberstreu)
  • Julian Klemm (Oberelsbach)

The practical training is now followed by the next step: follow-up courses, which include, among other things, modular squad training, a respiratory protection course and a technical assistance course. These further training courses are of great importance for firefighters in order to deepen their knowledge and be best prepared for the challenges of the operation.

Training to become a machinist has been an integral part of fire service courses since 2010 and sets standards in the transfer of knowledge and skills that are essential for use with fire engines. The fire engine machinist course remains an important concern in the area of fire service training, as mainpost.de summarizes.
