Closure of the A8 near Rosenheim: Important information for travelers on public holidays!
In the near future, a significant change awaits us on the A8 between Munich and Salzburg. From August 15, 2025, a new regulation will come into force that will be highly relevant during the holiday season and on public holidays. So reported Car Motor and Sport urgently about this measure, which will result in particularly high travel activity in many Bavarian communities on the first holiday of the Assumption Day.
The new departure bans apply not only from Friday to Sunday, but also on public holidays. There will be additional traffic regulations in the area around the junctions in the Rosenheim district. Those affected include the Bad Aibling, Rosenheim-West and the Inntal triangle, to name just a few of the key points.
Regulation in detail
A crucial innovation is the ban on vehicles of all kinds, which is activated when traffic on the A8 is heavily congested. Road users can expect traffic signs 250, which inform them that these closures apply to alternative traffic in traffic jams on the motorway. It is particularly important that residents and holiday guests must present certain proof in order to be able to use the closed roads. Be it a hotel booking or proof of residence – it’s important to be well prepared!
To ensure that these regulations are adhered to, the police will carry out random checks. Anyone who does not comply will face a fine of at least 50 euros, which can vary depending on the type of vehicle. It is therefore advisable to pay special attention to the signs, as a violation could not only mean good business for the state treasury, but also unnecessary stress for travelers.
Traffic situation on the A8
It is particularly recommended that travelers to Salzburg or further towards Munich keep up to date with the current traffic situation and take the new regulations into account as best as possible. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of each individual to reach their destination safely and according to the rules.
