Augsburg celebrates: Vicky Leandros inspires at the glamorous press ball!

On November 11, 2025, Augsburg celebrated a lavish ball night at the Kongress am Park, which once again made the press ball the social highlight of the region. The approximately 2,000 guests included not only prominent figures from politics and culture, but also representatives of Augsburg's economic life. The brilliant start was opened by host Alexandra Holland, editor of the Augsburger Allgemeine.

The special highlight of the evening was the performance by Vicky Leandros (73), whose songs such as “I love life”, “Après toi” and “Theo, we're going to Lodz” thrilled the audience. Her strong stage presence made her the celebrated star of the evening. Former Finance Minister Theo Waigel has also been part of this event since the 1980s and estimates that this may be his 40th press ball, which he attends with his wife Irene Epple.

Celebrity guests and great atmosphere

The press ball attracted many familiar faces. Among those present were politicians such as Prime Minister Markus Söder, European Minister Eric Beißwenger and Mayor Eva Weber. Many of Augsburg's celebrities also came, including state director André Bücker and actor Michael Brandner. FCA President Markus Krapf was represented in sporting company.

Business life was also represented in large numbers with voices such as Sebastian Priller from the Riegele brewery and Bernhard Sieber, the jeweler. The atmosphere was great and many guests took the opportunity to take souvenir photos in the popular photo boxes. Artfully dressed in sequins, many even in partner looks, the group of guests created a glamorous picture.

An evening full of surprises

The celebrations were not without small mishaps: a puddle of Bionade meant that the tuxedo needed to be cleaned on Monday. But such amusements did not dampen the festive mood. Markus Othmer moderated the evening with charm and made the audience laugh.

Alessandro Ristori, who combined Italian pop with 80s elements, ensured that the dancing continued late into the night after Leandro's performance. The event was also characterized by social responsibility, as the proceeds from the ball went to the card index of need; Since 2012, 24,000 euros have already been raised.

Another highlight was the celebratory laughter of the guests as they recalled information, for example from Tanja and Maximilian Willmeroth, who remembered their main prize in the 2018 tombola. The next press ball for 2026 is already firmly anchored in the anticipation of visitors. The evening was an excellent example of how you can combine social commitment with a celebration full of joy.

The impressions of the evening will certainly resonate for a long time and show that Augsburg has lost none of its appeal as a cultural and social hotspot. For all related areas - politics, business, sport and culture - the press ball was a uniform expression of togetherness.
