Gigantic triathlon spectacle: Challenge Roth 2025 attracts tens of thousands!
On July 6, 2025, the city of Roth in Germany is expecting a top-class sporting highlight. The Challenge Roth, the largest long-distance triathlon in the world, invites athletes and spectators to an exciting day of racing. The live stream starts at 6:15 a.m. (CEST), while the race day begins with the swimming start at 6:30 a.m. The route is impressive: 3.8 kilometers of swimming, followed by 180 kilometers of cycling and the culmination of 42.2 kilometers of running.
Tens of thousands of spectators have come to the event to support the athletes. Numerous top athletes compete in the women's elite field, including the reigning IRONMAN world champion Laura Philipp and Fenella Langridge, who took fourth place in 2023. Grace Thek and Laura Siddall are also experienced athletes who are hoping for their chance.
Top athletes in competition
Among the men, the newly crowned world champion Sam Laidlow will attract particular attention. After his victory at Ironman in Nice, where he triumphed with a time of 8 hours and 6 minutes, the young Frenchman has a clear focus on the Challenge Roth. At his side are strong competitors such as Tom Bishop, Jan Stratmann, who took fourth place in 2024, and three-time Olympic champion Vincent Luis. Jesper Svensson, known as the 2019 runner-up, will also do everything he can to secure his place on the podium.
A very special highlight is the participation of Jonas Deichmann, an extreme endurance athlete who is notorious for his challenge of completing 120 long distances in 120 days. NHL Stanley Cup winner Zdeno Chara will also cause a stir.

Triathlon events like this are in great demand in Germany, and more and more athletes want to fight for their place.
