Region:Meldorf collects 10,000 euros for Ukraine aid – strong together!

In the last few weeks, the Region:Meldorf association has actively demonstrated that it has a big heart for Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression, the association has organized various events to collect donations for the suffering population. At events such as the harbor festival in August and the Dithmarscher Klima-Slar, donations were collected eagerly and a symbolic donation check for 2,000 euros was handed over to Alexander Rose, the regional manager of hoelp. This is no more than a small part of the total of 10,000 euros that the association has so far collected for Ukraine aid. These funds directly benefit those affected, because the hoelp aid organization passes them on without any administrative costs - a point that chairman Horst-Walter Roth expressly emphasizes.

A look behind the scenes shows that hoelp has already successfully completed its 19th aid tour since the beginning of the war. Over the last three years, an impressive 350 tons of relief goods worth around 1 million euros have been transported to Ukraine. These are urgently needed items such as non-perishable food, warm clothing, medicine and even generators. The hoelp receives support from a circle of friends, including the agricultural and business journalist Jan Peters from Brunsbüttel, who ensured that an old fire engine from the Tensbüttel-Röst volunteer fire department was brought to Poland, near the Ukrainian border.

On-site coordination

The local Ukraine aid is organized by the Ukrainian Valeriia Koval, who ensures that the donations reach where they are most urgently needed. When handing over the check, Alexander Rose thanked Roth and Ralf Uhlenberg for their tireless support.

The situation in Ukraine, Europe's second largest country, remains tense. Since independence in 1991, the country has struggled not only with economic challenges, but also with the consequences of several conflicts, including Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the current war, which has escalated with the Russian invasion in 2022. These events have greatly affected the country not only politically but also socioeconomically, and the need for relief operations is greater than ever. Ukraine is a major exporter of grain, but the decline in production caused by the war is worrying.

Future prospects

Preparations for future actions do not stop; The association is already planning further fundraising campaigns. On December 13, 2025, an Advent singing event will be held in the Agricultural Museum after the artisan Christmas market to once again collect money for aid to Ukraine. The hope remains that the situation in Ukraine will soon improve and that humanity will continue to be the focus.

The association's committed work shows how important solidarity and support are in times of need. Helping the people of Ukraine means not only providing financial resources, but also giving a sign of hope. Every euro counts and can help to improve the living conditions of people suffering from the war.
