Small but powerful: piano prodigy Louis Zhang inspires Starnberg!
Last night around 250 enthusiastic listeners gathered in the Schlossberghalle in Starnberg to experience a very special concert. The nine-year-old piano star Louis Zhang, who comes from Berg, performed together with the renowned German String Philharmonic and provided unforgettable musical highlights.
This event was not the first of its kind; a previous concert took place a year and a half ago. Wolfgang Hentrich, the director of the renowned youth orchestra, took the initiative for this special concert. In the speeches by Mayor Patrick Janik and Rupert Steigenberger, the importance of the event for the culture of the region was emphasized.
A celebration of classical music
With 57 talented musicians in the ensemble, the German String Philharmonic an impressive performance of Mozart's “Divertimento” KV 136. But the real highlight of the evening was the solo concert by Louis Zhang, who masterfully interpreted Johann Sebastian Bach's Piano Concerto in A major without sheet music. He presented himself extremely confidently and convincingly.
But that's not all: Zhang also performed Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major and ended the concert with a short but moving piece. With a large cuddly bear at home as a lucky charm, he had his fans in their place.
A look into the future
The German String Philharmonic is not only active in Starnberg, but has also given performances on international stages such as the Golden Hall of the Vienna Music Association and the Cologne Philharmonic. The youngest members of the orchestra are as young as 11 years old, while experienced musicians are up to 20 years old. The orchestra has also teamed up with well-known virtuosos such as Julia Fischer and Nils Mönkemeyer.
Louis Zhang will be on stage again on July 27th when he presents “Classical Music for Children” in the Aufkirchen parish hall.
Promoting musical culture
He also pointed out the important role of supporting music projects for children and young people Federal Music Association which supports projects such as “Music for All”.
