Lifesaver in the wildlife park: New defibrillator installed for Landsberg!
New life in the wildlife park: A new defibrillator is now in the Landsberg wildlife park and could be crucial in an emergency. The installation of this lifesaver was supported by a generous donation from the VR Bank Starnberg-Herrsching-Landsberg eG enabled. It is located outside, near the newly renovated toilets, below the wild boar enclosure and is accessible around the clock.
Mayor Doris Baumgartl emphasizes how important this defibrillator is for the safety of wildlife park visitors. Michael Thomaier from VR Bank emphasizes that the wildlife park is a central meeting point for many people and that the defibrillator can save lives in an emergency. The device is designed to be easy to use: There are clear voice and visual instructions that help even laypeople carry out life-saving measures.
“VRhelps” campaign for more safety
The defibrillator in Landsberg is part of the Bavaria-wide “VRhilft” initiative, through which a total of 25 defibrillators were donated to various communities in order to improve emergency aid. This campaign shows VR Bank's commitment to reacting to the alarming figures: around 10,000 lives could be saved in Germany every year if the first aid measures were initiated promptly. Nevertheless, the inhibition threshold remains high for many potential first responders. As the Reporting by BR shows, many people have concerns about how to behave correctly in emergency situations.
Fear of making mistakes prevents many from actively applying their first aid knowledge. Experiences from first aid courses show that many participants are strongly influenced by dramatic portrayals in the media. Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are designed to provide step-by-step instructions and can also be used correctly by laypeople.
The situation in Aufkirchen
A new defibrillator was also recently put into operation in the neighboring community of Aufkirchen. This was also done through a donation from VR Bank as part of the “VRhilft” campaign. The valuable contribution of €2,443.40 meant that the device could be installed quickly and easily. It is available at various locations in town, including the outer wall of the fire department and the Etztal residential center, but only during the respective opening times, as on quh-berg.de is reported.
These measures in Landsberg and Aufkirchen illustrate how important the availability and access to defibrillators are. These devices should be accessible, especially in public places where many people come together. Information and training offers could encourage more people to act in emergencies and perhaps even save lives.
