New association for oncology support: focus on early diagnosis and therapy!

On June 16, 2025, a new association was formed at an emotional founding meeting in Straubing: the Oncology Aid Gäuboden/East Bavaria. The association, which focuses on the diagnosis and effects of cancer, sets clear goals in the context of early cancer detection and therapy. The launch of this initiative comes at a time when society is more than ever confronted with the challenges and fears that come with a cancer diagnosis.

Both experienced doctors and committed citizens are represented as founding members. At the head of the association is Prof. Dr. Jochen Grassinger as chairman, flanked by Stephan Dräxlmaier as secretary and Prof. Dr. Markus Völk, who takes over the office of treasurer. The team is complemented by Alexandra Huber, Franz Bast and Dr. Stefanie Kerscher and private lecturer Dr. Christian Gilfrich on the advisory board. Together they bring their expertise and network to help affected people and their families.

A central concern of the new association is to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of cancer.
