Ingolstadt conquers the top 5 of the DEL with 6:4 in Straubing!

What an exciting ice hockey game on Monday! ERC Ingolstadt achieved a thrilling 6-4 win away against the Straubing Tigers, which not only caused cheers among the fans, but also a significant jump in the table. After this success, Ingolstadt is now in fifth place and has impressively continued its series of three wins in a row at the “Pulverturm”. The Straubing Tigers, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat in their own hall after previously being unbeaten, which represents an interesting break in the season so far.

In the first phase of the game, the ERC made people sit up and take notice: Sam Ruopp won a fight against Alex Green just 11 seconds after the start of the game. Daniel Schmölz scored the first goal in the 5th minute on the power play, which was the first goal conceded for the Tigers on their own ice in over 210 minutes. In the course of the first third, Ingolstadt dominated with 70% of face-offs won and more than twice as many shots on goal.

Turning points and exciting moments

The Tigers came back in the middle period and equalized through Marcel Brandt in the 26th minute. Brandt scored again in the 30th minute from the power play. But Ingolstadt didn't let it get them down: Within just 71 seconds, Kenny Agostino and Peter Abbandonato turned the game in favor of the guests in the 33rd minute. Daniel Pietta increased the score to 4:2 shortly before the second break in the 39th minute.

In the final third, Straubing made it 4-3 in the 51st minute through Elis Hede before the Tigers took their goalkeeper off the ice in favor of an additional field player in the final phase. Myles Powell secured the decisive goal for Ingolstadt in the 59th minute to make it 5:4. The subsequent goals from Abbandonato and Linus Brandl were only of a statistical nature, but it still shows Ingolstadt's offensive, which gives us optimism for the coming games.

Looking forward to the next duel

After the game, Peter Abbandonato spoke of the incredible energy in the stadium and praised the implementation of the match plan. Ingolstadt will have to face the Kölner Haie on Friday and the fans are looking forward to another exciting duel. The kick-off takes place at 7:30 p.m.

This season, the Ingolstadt team has already proven that they can boast a lot of fighting power and a solid strategy. While preparing for the next challenges, the question remains: Can the ERC continue to deliver this performance and defend its place in the upper table region? The next games will show whether the team can maintain the momentum.
