Relief campaign: Employment agency supports trainees with rental costs!

At a time when the cost of living has risen sharply in recent years, financial support for trainees is an important pillar. IG BAU is currently providing particular information about the Vocational training allowance (BAB), which can help trainees with their own apartments to reduce financial pressure. This support is particularly important for the approximately 4,010 trainees in the Upper Palatinate, including around 230 in construction.

The employment agency has proven itself to be a reliable partner. After all, the training allowance is often not enough to cover rent, groceries and trips home. Manfred Götz, deputy chairman of IG BAU Oberpfalz, also emphasizes that this financial help is particularly in demand given that there are 1,100 trainees in Weiden, 1,060 in the Tirschenreuth district and 1,850 in the Neustadt/WN district.

Who is entitled to the support?

But who is actually entitled to the BAB? The requirements are clearly defined: a trainee must be over 18 years old, married or living with a partner. You can also apply for support if you have at least one child and no longer live with your parents. These regulations apply equally to in-company and non-company training. There are also specific requirements for training preparation in assisted training.

The maximum rate for the BAB is 781 euros for dual trainees who no longer live with their parents. This makes it one of the most important forms of financial support for young people in training.

Alternatives and additional help

There are also other ways to improve your financial situation. The Student BAföG For example, it supports students and trainees in school-based training and can amount to up to 959 euros. Housing benefit, which can be used by trainees in certain cases, can also help if the BAB application is rejected. And don't forget scholarships and educational loans, which are also available for committed trainees.

In addition, parents have a legal obligation to support adult children during training. This money can be important for making ends meet, especially if your own compensation is not enough. Child benefit is also not neglected and amounts to 255 euros for those under 25 in training.
