Solstice festival in Schleching: tradition, music and a magical fire!

On June 22, 2025, the village square in Schleching was transformed into a colorful festival area when the traditional costume association d'Gamsgebirgler celebrated its annual solstice festival. Visitors from near and far came together to enjoy a warm summer evening with festive music and traditional dances. The Bergeslust men's choir from Fulda, with around 50 singers, created a festive atmosphere with their performances in front of the music pavilion stage and literally melted the guests.

A special highlight of the celebrations were the performances by the members of the traditional costume club, who performed some impressive traditional dances. The premiere of the Schuhplattler by little boys aged 5 to 8 was particularly exciting. The little ones' performance was rewarded with great applause and showed that the tradition remains alive in the next generation. Under the watchful eye of adults, the boys took their first steps in dance.

Music and cosiness around the campfire

The Schleching music band created a lively atmosphere with a fine mix of marches, country songs, plattlers and waltzes. Moderated by Bertl Pletschacher, this musical enjoyment was rounded off by the “Young Alphorn Players”, who helped to create a romantic atmosphere. As the evening grew darker, the wood in the fire bowls blazed, creating a picturesque sight. The club's active members also delighted the guests with a star dance and a Plattler around the fire, which made the festival an unforgettable experience.

While the guests celebrated the evening in a lively atmosphere, the club took care of the entertainment with a variety of delicious food and drinks. The focus of this evening was on the coming together of the village community and the joy of traditional costume culture, which underlined the importance of such traditional events.

Digital accessibility and inclusion

But there is also progress to be reported in the digital world. In Schleching, the traditional costume club's website is being optimized based on the model of accessibility. The goal is to provide an accessible website for a wide audience, regardless of ability or circumstance. This includes compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) at AA level so that everyone, including those with disabilities, has easy access to digital content.

Various technologies to improve accessibility, such as an accessibility interface that allows user interface customizations, make it easier for web-savvy people to access. There is also support for screen readers and keyboard navigation to ensure that everyone can use the website. Continuous improvement and adaptation to new technologies ensure that digital participation is at the top of the agenda for everyone.

The commitment to accessibility shows how important it is that everyone has the opportunity to actively participate in digital life. Schleching is setting new standards and ensuring that the digital world remains accessible and usable for everyone.
