Police stop tuner scene: hundreds of drivers in the sights!
The police in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria recently carried out a major control operation against the tuner scene. The reason for this extensive measure were calls on social networks for a meeting that attracted numerous participants. Around 300 vehicles and around 500 people were checked in the Ulm area during the night. A helicopter was even used to keep an eye on the situation. How sueddeutsche.de reported, numerous violations were found, including around 20 reports of administrative offenses.
These checks revealed that some drivers were driving with serious defects in their vehicles. Six cars had to be shut down due to technical problems. Another critical number: Around 30 drivers were faced with fines after violating the city's general ordinance. However, the control was not only limited to Baden-Württemberg, because the meeting of the tuner scene subsequently moved to Bavaria, where up to 1,000 participants met in cities like Memmingen and Altenstadt.
Accidents and safety measures
The bad news didn't stop there: There were several rear-end collisions on Autobahn 7, which further aggravated the situation. Several vehicles were damaged and three people sustained minor injuries. The police broke up the crowds and seized several vehicles, issuing numerous fines. This is intended to promote road safety and point out the responsibility of drivers.
The controls also continued in other regions. For example, road users from the tuner scene were checked on Tuesday evening in Günzburg and Ichenhausen. Here it became clear that young people were driving with vehicle modifications that were not properly registered. A 19-year-old ignored the stop signal and tried to evade control, but was unsuccessful. Another driver – 23 years old – also had problems with the registered suspension springs. These measures were supported by a strict fine procedure against the affected drivers, such as augsburger- Allgemeine.de reported.
Speeders under control
A clear trend that is emerging is the growing number of illegally tuned vehicles, and the police are faced with the challenge of controlling this. An example from Duisburg-Hochfeld illustrates the problem: A red Ferrari was stopped because its driver was clearly too fast - at 67 kilometers per hour in a 50 speed zone. In addition, there were no spacers installed on the vehicle, which massively endangered road safety. The Ferrari driver now also has to deal with a fine, especially since such checks are considered a seasonal start for the racing and tuning scene in the region. A black BMW also had no luck and was stopped at 119 km/h in a 50 zone, which resulted in a fine of 1,400 euros and a driving ban, as wdr.de reported.
The police are aware of the dangers and carry out the checks together with employees of the public order office. It is hoped that these measures can not only raise awareness of safe driving but also curb future violations. The pressure on the tuner scene will continue to increase, and controls are likely to be increased in the near future.
