Severe weather warning in Bavaria: Rain, storms and thunderstorms are threatening!
In the coming hours the weather over Bavaria will be uncomfortable. How BR.de reported that a strong low pressure area over the Atlantic is bringing moist and unstable air to Bavaria. These developments could particularly affect the Alpine regions and Franconia this evening, where the optimal choice is likely to be an umbrella.
The German Weather Service (DWD) has made clear forecasts: rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected from this evening. Up to 25 liters of rain per square meter could fall within an hour in the affected areas. The districts of Ost- and Oberallgäu, Kempten, Kaufbeuren, Unterallgäu, Landsberg am Lech, Weilheim-Schongau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are considered particularly risky - there is obviously a risk of flooding here due to the forecast amounts of precipitation.
Storm warnings and thunderstorms
Warnings of severe thunderstorms should be taken seriously. A storm with speeds of 75 to 85 km/h could hit the region, accompanied by hail of up to two centimeters. It will be very thundery in Franconia, especially on Thursday night, and the amount of precipitation could become even more drastic. On the border with Lower Franconia, storm-like precipitation of up to 50 liters per square meter is possible locally.
The DWD has recorded a decreasing risk of thunderstorms for Thursday night, while heavy rain continues to occur in many places. From Thursday morning, dry, cloudy air is expected in southeast Bavaria, before the rain spreads from the west and temperatures fluctuate between 19 and 25 degrees.
An outlook on weather developments
A changeable weather program is forecast for Friday: dry periods alternating with rain showers. The values will continue to be between 19 and 24 degrees, with a fresh east to southwest wind. On Saturday the sky will be very cloudy with occasional showers before the clouds clear up towards the evening. Temperatures between 18 and 23 degrees are also in the preview here.
Mainly dry weather is expected on Sunday night, with small chances of rain between Spessart and Rhön. Temperatures drop to lows of 15 degrees at night, while it can get up to 8 degrees on the Inn and Salzach dwd.de supplemented.
