Bremen's Free Market Parade 2025: A festival for young and old awaits!

The Bremen Freimarkt is in full swing and today, October 25th, 2025, the Weser courier for shining eyes. The free market parade, the highlight of this fifth season, begins at 10 a.m. in Pappelstrasse in Bremer Neustadt. After a colorful hustle and bustle, the route leads over 2.5 kilometers to the Bürgerweide, where the festive activities reach their climax between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

This year, visitors can look forward to an extraordinary spectacle: 126 groups consisting of several thousand participants are taking part in the parade. Particular attention is paid to the 21 groups that are taking part for the first time this year. The variety ranges from festive foot groups to magnificent floats equipped with huge speakers.

Tradition and fun for everyone

The Bremen Freimarkt is one of the oldest folk festivals in Germany, looking back on more than a thousand years of history. As early as 888, King Arnulf gave Bremen the right to hold markets. Originally intended as a trading place, the market has developed over the centuries into a popular entertainment venue Freimarkt.de reported. The parade itself offers entertainment for all ages. Spectators young and old can look forward to the traditional camels that are thrown into the crowd during the procession. The musical accompaniment is provided by 15 groups who ensure the necessary atmosphere.

Changes in local transport

In order for all spectators to be able to get to the festival comfortably, local transport must be able to accommodate the crowds. The bus and tram routes will begin to be rerouted from around 7 a.m. Lines 26 and 27 are particularly affected, followed by lines 1, 2, 3, 8 and 25 from 9 a.m. From 9.45 a.m. lines 4, 6 and 24 will also be rerouted. Line 5 will be completely canceled on the day of the event, while line 63 will be rerouted from around 1:15 p.m. Spontaneous diversions and delays are to be expected.
