Piano Festival in Bremen: A masterpiece on white keys!

In January 2025, the popular piano festival “On Black and White Keys” celebrated a successful edition in the Bremen broadcasting hall, which made the hearts of music enthusiasts beat faster. This festival, which has existed since 1990, stands for top-class piano recitals and extraordinary programs and attracts numerous visitors every year. This year, three remarkable pianists performed: Schaghajegh Nosrati, Aaron Pilsan and Fabian Müller, all of whom were heard at the festival for the second time.
Radio Bremen reports that the events took place from January 4th to 11th and delighted the audience with rarely heard works by composers such as Charles Valentin Alkan, George Enescu and Alfred Grünfeld.

The broadcasting hall in Bremen once again provided the perfect backdrop for these musical delights. With its special acoustics and intimate atmosphere, the venue is ideal for piano recitals at the highest level. The organizers Bremen Zwei and the Bremen broadcasting hall have made it their mission to present the European piano scene and to captivate the audience with original programs. Program items such as the fascinating interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach and works by Liszt and Chopin testify to the diversity and quality of this festival.

The artists in focus

Each of the three musicians brings their own story and involvement in the festival. In particular, Schaghajegh Nosrati, born in Bochum in 1989, proved at his concert on January 4th why he is making people sit up and take notice in the piano scene. His career really took off in 2023 with a performance at Carnegie Hall, New York. The combination of powerful Bach interpretations and sophisticated pieces by Alkan made his performance an experience. Aaron Pilsan, who took the stage on January 8th, also shone with his program, which was themed “The Dancing Piano” and included works from Weber to Schumann. The Austrian pianist, who was born in Dornbirn in 1995, has also made a name for himself - his performances in well-known halls speak volumes. On January 11th, Fabian Müller, born in Bonn in 1990, rounded off the festival. With his performance of two Beethoven sonatas and Brahms' Piano Sonata in F minor, Op. 5, he is celebrated as a “superstar” at the piano.

A feast for the senses

The concerts were all scheduled at 8 p.m. and ticket prices were an affordable 36 euros, reduced 26 euros. What was particularly pleasing was that the tickets were available via the Bremer Sendesaal website and at the box office, so that a wide audience had access to this piano festival. The festival not only offers musical delights, but also a platform for young talents who can prove themselves in concerts.
