On the morning of October 16, 2025, Hamburg was simmering. Train traffic was severely affected and the reason was cable damage at Hamburg Central Station, which was caused by construction work between the main station and Altona. Deutsche Bahn stated that the repair work is still ongoing and the disruptions will continue until at least Thursday morning Deutschlandfunk reported.
In long-distance traffic, trains only ran every hour and all trains only ran to or from Hamburg-Harburg. Travelers from the south had to be prepared for their connections to end there. On the other hand, regional trains from the south could still pass through and reach the main station.
